Our Youths in Politics: A Mess

In every nation, the youth are considered the heartbeat of tomorrow, the strength of reform, and the voice of reason. They are expected to bring fresh ideas, revolutionary zeal, and positive change. But in the political landscape of our country today, that expectation is being replaced with disappointment. Our youths in politics have gradually become part of the very mess they once criticized.

Rather than being a force for change, many of today’s young politicians have embraced the same corrupt practices that plague the older generation. They no longer challenge the system; instead, they blend into it, chasing power at all costs, and abandoning the principles of honesty, service, and responsibility.

Evils committed by our youths in politics

1. Thuggery and Political Violence:
Many young people have sold their energy to politicians as instruments of violence. They are recruited to disrupt elections, intimidate opponents, and unleash chaos. Instead of using their strength for peaceful advocacy, they now use it for destruction.

2. Greed and Embezzlement:
Youths who find their way into political offices often fall into the same trap of financial mismanagement. The moment they gain access to power, they join the looting spree—stealing public funds, enriching themselves, and abandoning the people they promised to serve.

3. Fake Promises and Betrayal:
Many youth candidates ride on the backs of the people’s hopes. They campaign as “the voice of the common man,” only to get into power and abandon their promises. They forget their humble beginnings, silence their conscience, and betray their roots.

4. Social Media Propaganda and Lies:
Today’s young political players often manipulate social media to spread lies, hate, and propaganda. Instead of using digital platforms for political education and awareness, they use them to attack opponents, mislead the public, and glorify mediocrity.

5. Lack of Ideology and Vision:
Many youths in politics today do not stand for anything. They jump from one party to another, not because of ideology but because of money and opportunity. They lack vision and follow whoever pays more, even if it means working against their own people.

6. Godfatherism and Puppetry:
Instead of challenging godfatherism, some youths have submitted themselves to become puppets. They are used and controlled by political elites who fund their ambitions and dictate their every move, making them incapable of independent decisions.

Conclusion

Our youths in politics must wake up. The future they are meant to protect is being sold off bit by bit. If they continue in this path, the same decay they condemned will only get worse. It is not enough to be young; integrity, courage, and vision are what truly make a difference. If the youth become a mess in politics, who then shall clean the nation?

Let the youth arise—not as a reflection of the past, but as architects of a better tomorrow.
