Lagos, Nigeria – In a landmark moment for Rotary in Nigeria and Africa at large, Rotary International District 9112 proudly announces the official chartering of the Rotary Club of Nigeria Globetrotters (Passport Club) — the first of its kind in the nation and, arguably, on the African continent.
The club was formally admitted into Rotary International on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, setting a new precedent in Rotary’s mission to expand and diversify its global service outreach.
The Passport Club model represents a bold and innovative approach within Rotary's global engagement strategy. It offers greater flexibility by allowing members to attend virtual meetings and participate in service projects anywhere in the world, ideal for professionals with demanding or mobile lifestyles.
With 31 vibrant and visionary members, the club is led by Charter President Rotarian Enitan Sophie Oluwa, a respected legal practitioner and a passionate advocate for the Girl Child and Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). The club meets virtually via Google Meet every Wednesday at 5 PM (WAT).
The Rotary Club of Nigeria Globetrotters was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Gbagada, under the mentorship of Past President Alozie Nsirimobi, who now serves as the New Club Adviser.
District Governor Rotarian Olufemi Adenekan, under whose leadership this milestone was achieved, commended all parties involved:
